Certificate/Diploma Requirements and Prerequisites

Click on each course for course descriptions and prerequisites.
• All 1-year certificates require a total of 36 semester hours of credit and their requirements are listed above.

• The 2-year diplomas required 60 semester hours credit, including the requirements for the degree listed above for each program, with the electives and core requirements (i.e. English, science, history, Old and New Testament survey courses, etc). This diploma must be requested from your advisor after completing 60 semester hourse of credit. The Dean is the final arbiter of whether you meet requirements for a 2-year degree.

• All 4-year diplomas require a total of 120 semester hours of credit: 60 semester hours of credit listed above for the major, a 36 hour minor in a second area (see certificates for minor requirements of different field). As credits between major and minor overlap, you will be required to take a number of electives to complete the 120 smester hours for the diploma.

• Master's degrees require 45 semester hours of graduate work as specified in the listing above, except the Master of Divinity which requires 90 semester hours. All of our master's degrees require a four-year degree of at least 120 semester hours on any major, with a 3.0 (B) grade point average for all previous college work, or a 2.5 (C+) grade point average with probation and to earn a 3.0 in all future work. All require the completion of a project thesis.

• The Doctor of Ministry Degree Begins in the Fall 2022 Term. The degree requires 30 doctoral semester hours, including a Doctor of Ministry Dissertation project. You must complete a doctoral proposal (as taught in ENG7001) and have it approved prior to taking that dissertation project class. The dissertaion project must be approved by a dissertation committee of faculty appointed by the Dean before the DMin degree is awarded. There is no deadline on the Doctor of Ministry Project and Dissertation class, nor weekly requirements. It is a self-paced program. Also, there is only one tuition charge for the class. However, all Dmin requirements must be met within 8 years from the start of the program. Admissions into the DMin program requires a Master of Divinity Degree with at least 90 graduate semester hours of credit. If your MDiv did not have 90 hours, we will accept you into the program with any MDiv with at least graduate 60 semester hours, but you will have to complete any hours below 90 in our masters program before actually taking courses for the DMin. For example, if your MDiv only had 78 sem. hrs., you will need to complete 12 sem. hrs. at the master's level before starting the DMin courses.

• Degree Requirement Grandfathering: Requirements are subject to change from term to term due to changes in standards without individual notice. Only those who have accomplished at least 75% of their required degree hours are exempt from thoses changes and grandfathered to older degree requirements. Course hours acquired at MBC prior to the changes may still be counted towards the total hour requirement despite changes or transfer credits, with permission from the Dean.
